Test and Tag Requirements Queensland

With all the day to day runnings of a business, it can sometimes be hard to keep up with all the rules, regulations and responsibilities of maintaining safety in the workplace.

Test and Tagging, also know as electrical safety testing, portable appliance testing is the process of visually inspecting and testing of electrical equipment that is in-service within the workplace, be that in an office or on a construction site.

By law it is mandatory for all businesses in Australia to undergo safety inspection and testing. All testing of businesses must be tested in accordance with AS/NZS 3760:2010.

That's why at Be Smart Electrical we always provide a fully licensed and qualified electrician onsite when testing, so that you have the piece of mind of knowing that all your equipment is tested with perfect accuracy and any defect or damaged electrical items can be repaired at the point of detection.

What needs testing within your business?

To keep it simple everything that has a plug top on it and plugs in to a power point and is a portable item needs to be tested as for the frequency and time limit of a safety tag attached this is depended on the environment that the piece of equipment will be used in, be smart electrical when on site can explain to you the different classes of environments and the correct length of time for retesting the equipment. The Standard also specifies procedures for Residual Current Devices / Safety Switches which will also be discussed.

Be smart electrical also will keep a detailed record of all equipment that was and as well as the client will receive a copy.
